As parents we often find ourselves lost in crossing over the long-sought bridge back to the deep emotional bond between parent and child. Play, with all its togetherness, can ease the stress of parenting. When we play with our child we enter their world on their terms. We foster closeness, confidence, and connection. Many experts describe play as a place - a place of magic and imagination, a place a child can be one’s self. As psychologist Virginia Axline once wrote “They can build themselves a mountain and climb safely to the top and cry out for all the world to hear.” As parents we can reenter the world of play . We can follow the giggle, learn to roughhouse, and empower our girls and connect to our boys. As we navigate their world of play let's remember to find the joy!
